Not surprisingly, the brutal sport of boxing has roots in prehistoric periods. The earliest records of boxing are from archaeological evidence discovered in Africa that are said to be dated around 4000 B.C. Of course, the sport's popularity spread and cave paintings that depicted boxing were found around 1500 B.C. in places such as the Mediterranean.

Boxing then moved on to ancient Greece, where barbarians would sit face to face and punch each other until one of them was dead at times spikes and the like were used to quicken the process and most of the time the opponents were naked with the exception of wrappings to protect their arms. Fortunately, around 688 B.C., this form of boxing passed and boxers soon were practicing on punching bags and were allowed to wear leather straps and breastplates to protect their arms and chests.

Boxing then took on many forms, depending on the country in which it grew popular. For example, China merged boxing with wrestling during the Zhou Dynasty and utilized a combination of attacks, including throws and pressure point attacks. Ancient Buddhist history also mentions a form of boxing particularly, a boxing match between Buddha's cousin and half-brother.

In the Buddharata Sutra, a martial art form of boxing was written about and this particular form of boxing was known as Vajra Mushti. Boxing also took its place in ancient Rome, being more popular among prisoners attempting to win their freedom by winning a boxing match. Boxing did not last long in Rome, however, although it gained so much popularity that even free men and nobles fought in matches. In 500 A.D. Theodoric the Great prohibited boxing in any form.

Boxing took off in London, however, and early fighting around the year 1743 didn't have any weight limits or really, any rules of any kind. Many boxers fought with bare knuckles and this made for a very brutal sport thankfully, rules such as "no blows below the belt" were enforced and the sport began to morph into the martial art that we know today. Olympic boxing and women's boxing also gained in popularity, however, the two have not generally mixed well.

There will be no women's boxing in the Olympics during the year 2008 and not many expect it to be an official sport at the 2012 Olympics either. Boxing became most popular in the Western world with professional boxing also known as prizefighting. Many people like to watch this type of boxing on television and many movies were made about this type of boxing, including the spectacular Rocky series. Boxing still remains popular today, despite its extremely prehistoric and often barbaric origins.

The History of Boxing

Interior switch boxes type CT and CM fabricated from the plastic are manufactured as devices mounted on or under the wall plaster, with full door (PO) or transparent door (PT)- Fig. 1. They can be installed both in newly constructed buildings and in old buildings, where electric wiring is modernized. They are adapted mostly in apartments buildings, family houses and in commercial facilities. Switch boxes are available in one row version up to three row version. In every row there is the place for12+1 standard- modules with the width 17, 5 mm. They are intended for the assembly of the standard- modular equipment. Switch boxes series CT and CM have great interest everywhere, the quality and aesthetics of works is important. Thanks to the modern style and design, they are in tune with the inside decorations of every kind of the interior. They have original casing shape with round edges and decorated with moldings doors. The construction of switch boxes makes possible the door opening on left or the right side with angle of 180o. Casing is made from self-extinguishing material ABS, with very good mechanical proprieties and big resistivity. They are available in the white color - RAL 9010. Complete set is provided with clamps connectors N and PE - Fig. 4, which can be installed in upper or the lower part of the switch box. All switch boxes have high fire and flame resistance (respectively in 650oC and 850oC temperatures according to PN-IEC 60695-2-1 norm), they have isolations class II, cover protection degree IP40 and the protection degree against mechanical shocks IK 08. They comply also with requirements of many European and Polish norms, e.g. PN-IEC 439-3, IEC 670 and EN 60439-3.

Assembly

A basic advantage of CM and CT switch boxes is the ease of the assembly on all kinds of walls, from traditional - concrete and brick walls - to plaster- walls. Switch boxes can be placed in walls and sectional sides with small thickness, their depth is only approx. 72 mm. Switch boxes consist of two parts : back, to which are attached mounting rails TH 35 intended to the modular equipment and clamps connectors N and PE, and also screwed to the front cover door.

Easily removed mounting rails are fastened with screws to the base. Electricians like this method of switch boxes construction, which makes easy the work, considerably saves the assembly time and equipments. The base of the switch box can be fastened to the wall with screws, embedded by polyurethane foam or simply built in. Modular devices mounted on rails are connected with lines(in accordance with project)in the manufacturer’s electric workshop or on the assembly table on the construction side. This can avoid uncomfortable installation devices directly on the wall and can avoid damages or even destructions of the switch box during other builder’s-assembly-works. The frontal plate is equipped with mask (hood), which can be easily break off, according to the number of modular devices provided for installation. The breakup of masks in required places for the purpose of installing the definite number of modular devices is quick and not inconvenient. In case of the incorrect masks breakup, there is the possibility of the repeated blindness of not used areas with spare covers. Then, mounting rails are screwed to the switch box base, breaks off special extractions for making easy insertion of wires and connects inputs and outputs of the circuits. The whole device is covered with the front cover along with door, screwed with screws in four corners of the switch box. The cover is equipped with special masks (hoods), which protect screws.

Wires ducting

Switch boxes have enough space for ducting the electric conductors, what considerably makes installation works easy. Wires can be put in inwards of the switch box from every side. The construction of the box makes also possible the free and safe access to the installed equipment. The size of the box ensures a lot of places for the additional equipment and cables and lets the free access to wires during the assembly. Wires can be easily lead next to devices or under

the TH35 rail. In switch boxes, mounted under the wall plaster, the part assembled in the plaster, has special extractions, whose breakup makes possible cables insertion from all sides. In switch boxes, mounted on the wall plaster, similar extractions are placed in backside of the casing, assuring an aesthetical look of the device.

Additional accessories

Switch boxes type CT and CM are provided with following accessories: the patent- lock with the key, which can be individually installed to the switch box door, and connecting elements along with gaskets for coupling switch boxes into groups with protection degree IP55. Under a row of devices, self-adhesive tags with device signature can be placed. Every switch box can be sealed up, what protects the device from the interference of un-authorized persons. Summing up, thanks to such advantages as universal use, interesting pattern-designing, the high grade of used materials and the simply assembly and installation, switch boxes series CT and CM, have great interest among electricians, architects and investors.

Interior Ct and Cm Switch Boxes Manufactured by Eti Polam

When we look at fitness and training much has changed over the years. Gyms have become more accessible for all fitness levels, with the benefits of a personal trainer being used by many. One area which has not changed is the use of boxing as an effective training technique, and in more recent times the introduction of non contact boxing for fitness.

The origins of boxing date back to 4000BC where archaeological evidence suggests boxing existed in North Africa, with the earliest visual evidence for boxing appearing in Sumerian relief carvings from the 3rd millennium BC. Boxing, also called prize fighting (when referring to professional boxing) or the sweet science (a common nickname among followers) is formally structured for competition at both amateur and professional level. The highest level of amateur achievement is the winning of an Olympic gold medal, and as a professional winning a world title from one of the four main sanctioning bodies (WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO). Bouts are categorised through weight division classifications.

Through its strong history and puristic nature, boxing provides a solid platform for exercise. The benefits of boxing for fitness are a plenty, with cardiovascular function, muscle tone, speed, power, agility, reaction time, strength, flexibility and coordination all variables of fitness which are trained.

Before starting any exercise a full warm up should be completed to activate muscles and joints. The three main purposes of a warm are to increase body temperature as warmer muscles have more elasticity; elevate heart rate to allow as much oxygen rich blood to reach the muscles; lubricate the joints to increase range of movement. A good warm up for boxing is 2 minutes jump rope along with dynamic stretching.

Basic technique principles will need to be followed to enable an efficient workout.

Stance

Establish a comfortable position with body slightly side on, knees slightly bent, head facing forward with chin tucked in towards sternum. Feet will be 12 to 24 inches apart, back heel off the ground and weight on the balls of both feet. Toes should be pointing towards the left shoulder (for an orthodox- right handed boxer) of pad holder, bag or opponent. Both hands are at ear height, with left hand slightly more forward and elbows tucked into sides.

Jab

The jab for an orthodox boxer is a punch thrown with the left hand. Conduct an extension of the left hand, with the fist and forearm rotating, striking your target and then returning to the defensive position. Rotate at the waits with the left hip turning to the right, and back heel rocking off the ground as you throw the punch. Remember to keep your right hand up when throwing a jab, as it will have a natural tendency to drop. A focus should be placed on speed when throwing a jab.

Cross

The cross for an orthodox boxer is a punch with the dominant right hand. Conduct an extension of the right hand, (like the jab) rotating your first and forearm, then hitting the intended target before returning to the original position. Rotate as the waits with the right hip turning forward and swivelling of the ball of feet. Try not to drop the right shoulder, producing a powerful- long punch which is established from a snappy hip turn. Remember to keep your left hand up when throwing a cross.

Uppercuts

Uppercuts, both left and right hand, are produced via coming out of a squatting like position, with arm flexed and palm of clinched fist facing the boxers own chest through the duration of punch.

Hooks

Hooks are predominantly thrown with the left hand of an orthodox boxer. The arm conducts a hooking motion with a focus on an almost full extension at the elbow- to create leverage- whilst maintaining the elbow in a high position. The fist maintains its position throughout the punch with attention being paid to the knuckle part of the glove connecting to the intended target- rather than an open hard, or slap.

The use of boxing for fitness can be completed through a series of drills and exercises, either completed on a heavy bag or with a partner using hand pads.

Combinations

A combination is a series of punches- or moves- conducted in a consecutive manner. Combinations are a great way to training for coordination improvements- being a neurally challenging movement(s) - a quality of fitness quite often forgotten about, despite is vital importance. Combinations can start with a simple Jab-Cross, and build up to a five punch succession of Jab-Cross-Left Uppercut-Cross-Left Hook. Here are some more suggested combinations:

(All combinations in relation to orthodox boxer)

Jab- Jab- Cross

Jab- Cross- Left Hook

Jab- Cross- Left Uppercut- Right Uppercut

Left Hook- Right Uppercut

Jab- Cross- Duck- Left Hook

Duck- Cross- Left Hook

High Left Hook- Low Left Hook- Cross

Pyramid

A boxing pyramid relates to a pyramid in volume of punches, for example: 10, 20, 30, 20, 10. You can do this with any number, as well as variations of punches such as straights, uppercuts and hooks. Pyramid drills will not have an intense focus on technique as the combination punches would; due to the high volumes of punches making a pyramid drill an aerobic based endurance exercise.

Circuit

Circuit training can be easily applied to a boxing style of training. It can include exercises not directly related to boxing or exclusively boxing exercises. An example of a boxing circuit would be:

Dumbbell punches x 20

Burpee x 10

Bag punching x 20

Star jumps x 20

Shadow punches x 20

Depending on session plan and time, you would be able to complete the circuit 2 to 5 times, with a 30 to 120 seconds break between laps.

Freestyle

Freestyle boxing fitness training is best done with a partner who acts as the boss by calling the shots. Your partner will randomly- as it is freestyle- state a certain exercise through rounds of 1 to 3 minutes in duration. An example of this style of training would be: 30 straight punches, 10 squats, 4 uppercuts, 10 hooks, 8 lunges, 10 straight punches, 10 star jumps, etc for completion of round(s).

Including the lower body

For an all over body workout it is simple to add lower body exercise to your boxing routine. Include 10 squats or star jumps between sets of combinations, or a 10 meter lunge walk with 10 start jumps at the end between levels of a boxing pyramid. While you are conducting the leg exercise your upper body is recovering, and vice versa.

Facilities & Equipment

An advantage of boxing fitness is the minimal facilities and equipment that is required. Equipment can start with your bare hands- doesnt get any easier or cheaper than that- with the above listed drills and exercises conducted through shadow boxing. Further equipment can be utilised in boxing gloves, heavy bag, handwraps and hand pads. Facilities used are generally a boxing gymnasium, aerobics room or undercover shed, however if these facilities are not readily available then training can be equally effective at an oval or car park.

Whether you are training to be a boxer, an elite athlete, general sporting enthusiast or just looking to begin a form of training for cardiovascular improvement, weight loss and general wellbeing then boxing fitness is your ideal solution. It may be seen as old fashioned; however boxing fitness training is the original and still one of the best.

Boxing for Fitness: The Original and Still the Best

A light box is a necessary tool for most commercial artists, doctors and biotechnology lab technicians. Designers and photographers also need to use a light box from time to time. Light boxes can be easily bought from both online and offline stores and you can find many different types of light box models and styles with light box retailers, If you have never bought a lightbox before, then you might find yourself getting confused about what to buy and what not to buy. Given below are a number of factors that you need to consider when selecting a light box. If you keep all these in mind when choosing your lightbox, you will end up with a good buy.

Size: Light boxes come in a large number of sizes and you will first need to narrow down on the kind of size that you want. If you are buying a light box for a doctor’s clinic, then you should go for a size that is appropriate enough for reading MRIs and X-Rays. On the other hand, designers, architects and artists might require larger lightboxes in order to be able to trace and examine large prints and designs. As a photographer, you will need a lightbox that is large enough to handle the kind of prints you work with. No matter what your requirement is, it is important to choose a light box size that is large enough for all your professional needs or else you will find yourself in the market very soon looking for a larger lightbox.

Installation: Light boxes available in the market nowadays can be mounted on walls, on the floor or on your desk. Based on the size of your light box and your own convenience, you will have to decide on the kind of light box installation you want. Artists and designers generally prefer desk mounted light boxes whereas most doctors want their lightboxes on the wall. The kind of installation you go for has to be based on the kind of work that you are planning to do and the amount of space that you have got. Make sure that your light box is sturdy and stable wherever it is installed. A desktop light box that is flimsy may keep crashing and breaking every other day, while a wall mount light box that is too heavy will also end up with the same fate.

Luminosity: Most companies produce light boxes that give out different amounts of light. You need to check that you buy a light box that is bright enough for your purpose otherwise you will need to change its tubes right after you buy it. While lightboxes that are not too bright can easily be used for reading X-ray and MRIs, you might need something brighter for DNA sequencing or tracing artwork. If you are planning to buy a light box for therapeutic use, then it is advised you consult your doctor about the brightness and luminosity that your light box should have.

How to Select a Light Box

Building a window box is an easy DIY project that is great for any beginner. The best choice of wood for a window box is cedar or cypruss, because both woods will naturally resist rotting the best. This will give your window box the best chance of lasting more than five years. The process of building a window box begins with measuring the window for window box length, followed by assembly, followed lastly by hanging it. Let's skip straight to the middle and focus in on the actual building of a window box and the steps that are required. You'll need a drill, a few special bits, a brad gun, and a miter saw for this project.

For simplicity purposes let's build a 36" window box from 3/4" thick cypruss. Cypruss wood stock can be attained from most local lumberyards in a variety of dimensions. For window box purposes, a 1" x 8" board is recommended. For this box we will need roughly 12 feet of length. Now, miter the board at 34.5" three consecutive times such that you have three boards, one for the bottom, front, and back. We'll use screws to join these boards more tightly. Place two boards up against each other at ninety degree angle and use wood glue between them. You want to make sure you use a wood glue designed for exterior purposes. Once glued, shoot a few brad nails along the joint to hold the two boards together temporarily. Next, countersink three small holes through the boards in preparation to pass screws in to more securely join the boards in a ninety degree fashion. A countersink drill bit is one that drills a pilot hole deep and a big hole shallow so that the screw head can sink pass the face of the board. Drill three countersunk holes: one on each end and one in the center. Next, sink a screw into the boards so that they grab tightly. The butt joint should show on the bottom of the box. Repeat the same steps to fasten the back board to the bottom boards. When you've finished that, the only thing remaining will be pieces for the side ends.

For fastening of the side pieces I recommend again using gorilla glue and brad nails to quickly secure the piece to the box. Next, countersink some holes and then screws to joing the side pieces. The side piece should be cut to size first. Once the side pieces are attached, the structural assembly of the box is complete. Next, use a drill with a 1/4" drill bit to drill drain holes in the bottom. I recommend placing a hole in each corner of the box and one in the very center where water will likely migrate to the most. Next, caulk inside the box to seal all the inner joints. This will reinforce the box and also keep water from seeping through. Lastly, staple an erosion tarp to the inside of the box. The will filter out water and keep dirt in. Viola, now you're ready to hang it and put flowers in it. It's just that easy. If you're not up for the challenge of building a wooden window box every five years, a good idea may be to consider investing in a PVC window box. They are completely water resistant and very affordable. From an investment standpoint, they're usually worth the few extra dollars because they'll last up to 30 years without rotting or maintenance.

How to Build a Window Box

You packed.  You moved.  You unpacked.  Now all those boxes are sitting there, empty, taking up space, getting in your way.  are great—when you’re moving—but afterward, the only purpose they seem to serve is filling up the trashcan.  There are a few alternatives to a landfill, however, so before you send those boxes to the curb, consider these options.

Good, quality moving boxes are expensive, and it’s a shame to just throw them away.  Businesses such as Eco Boxes will take those unwanted boxes off your hands and sell them at a greatly reduced price, saving the consumer money and saving the environment at the same time.  Eco Boxes provides pick-up service if you have large quantities of boxes, and will either pay you a few cents for each box (those pennies add up when you have a lot of boxes!) or they will donate that money and match it penny for penny to charity.  They will also accept packing paper, so you won’t have to throw that away, either.

Another option is to list your moving boxes in a newspaper want ad, or on a website such as Craigslist, which allows you to list an ad for free and target your local area.  There are always people looking for boxes, so pass your unneeded ones along and help a fellow mover while at the same time keeping those boxes from cluttering up the garbage bin.  You can either list your boxes in your own ad or check the “wanted” section for ads specifically looking for boxes.  Someone will be more than happy to give your boxes a new home!

Of course, some boxes are beyond reusing, so if that’s the case, recycling is your next best bet.  Many cities offer curbside recycling services, so check with your waste management office to find out their policies (most require that the boxes be broken down and stacked flat for pick-up).  If recycling service is something that isn’t available in your neighborhood, don’t give up!  There will undoubtedly be a recycling center nearby that accepts cardboard.  Finding and using one is just a matter of checking the phonebook or the internet and then hauling the boxes to their location.

Remember, one person’s trash is another’s treasure.  So reuse and recycle, and get those bulky boxes out of your way!

What to Do With Your Unneeded Moving Boxes

You want readers to read your resource box and then click through to your website, right?

Well, you increase your chances that they will continue reading once they reach the end of your article if you keep your momentum going straight through the article and into the resource box (aka the author bio).

In that way, the thrilling conclusion is not the last line of your article, but rather the last line of your author bio box where you give your link to your website.

It's actually not that hard to create a customized resource box. By going just a few steps beyond your standard, generic author bio box, you can capitalize on the momentum you build in your article and garner more click-throughs to your website.

Here's how:

1) Start with the basics--create a strong basic resource box. In your basic author bio box you would give 4 bits of information:

*Tell your name.

Including your author name is a great way to show professionalism and ownership of the article, establish a personal connection with your reader, and build credibility as an expert in your field.

*Provide a little information about yourself.

Why should the reader regard you as an expert in this topic? Remember, in your article you cannot give your credentials or talk about how great you are, but the resource box is the perfect spot for that information!

By telling a little bit about yourself, you build reader confidence, and you establish a personal connection with your readers. The more comfortable the reader feels with you (knowing that you're an actual person with an expertise in this topic), the more likely they are to make the leap from your author bio box on over to your website.

Sometimes I see folks skipping their name and bio info and just jumping straight into a sales pitch, but I would encourage you to take the time to make a more gentle (and subtle) transition from your article to trying to lure folks to your website.

*Give the reader a reason to click through to your website.

If you've just met a person that you'd like to get to know better, you might entice them to have a more extended conversation with you by inviting them out for coffee or taking them to lunch.

The same concept holds true with your author bio box--what can you offer your reader that would inspire them to click through to your website?

*Include your website URL (you knew that one, didn't you!)

The whole point of doing an article marketing campaign is to drive traffic to your website, so be sure to include your website address in your resource box.

2) Write an article about your area of expertise. The idea is to provide educational information in which you're teaching something valuable to your target market.

3) In the author bio box, make the transition from the article to talking about you and you business.

In a customized resource box, the article topic flows into the resource box so that the two are seamlessly connected.

The first sentence of your author bio box (the customized bit) should be related to the topic of your article.

Here are a few ways to do this:

*Address your target market in your author bio box.

Let's say you're a business coach, and your article title is "A Small Business Owner's Guide To Time Management".

Your resource box could start off "Small business owners know that saving time is saving money, so time management is key!" And then you would continue with your basic author bio box which tells who you are, why you're an expert, why the reader should click through to your website.

*Make the first sentence of your author bio box continue the thought of the last sentence of your article.

Let's say the last sentence in your article was, "Now you're ready to start restructuring your workday to maximize your efficiency."

The first sentence of your author bio box could continue that thought with:

"Restructuring your workday can help you achieve work/life balance and increase profits. Mary Smith is an efficiency consultant of the past 5 years who enjoys guiding business owners through the process of streamlining their work days to maximize productivity. To claim your free e-book entitled "100 Ways To Get More Done In Less Time", go to [Mary's URL]"

As you can see in the above example, you would put the customized part that you've created before the basic resource box.

That wasn't that hard was it?

Now you're on your way to creating a customized resource box that will maximize your click-throughs!

Where You Can Buy Some Cheap Cardboard Boxes

For years people have been telling us to think outside of the box.  Or maybe you got excited the first time someone said \"It\'s time to move beyond the box,” well I say, “let\'s burn the box altogether and experience exponential growth and success in life!”

As a success coach and national speaker, I often find myself challenging my clients to diminish their ability to stifle their success by getting out of their own way.  A very important point that I share with clients is that expansion creates exposure.  If you expand your mind, it should not ever return to its former way of thinking and you should stop meandering through life.  If your mindset reverts back, you have not truly expanded your mind.  Moreover, once your mind has been expanded, exposure to the possibilities of dreams realized and success achieved becomes a definite awareness for those who so endeavor.

It’s no mystery that life is about 95% attitude and 5 % skill.  Attitude is the way you look at the box on the floor.  Do you get into it each day?  Or maybe you just walk around it hoping that it won’t be there when you return?  Or better still, may you move it so that it is not in your peripheral vision and immediate view.  But if your box is anything like the one I use to be in, it somehow always finds its way back to my side.  I hope that one day soon, you will just burn in and never have to worry about it again.

When you allow your mind to be boxed in, you prevent your ability to move and change.  Think about it.  Pretend you are physically in a box.  You are able to stand but that is it.  When you are in the proverbial box, you cannot move.  Not only can you not move, but your situation cannot change.  No one can come to your aid and rescue you because there is no run for anything to change in that box; all activity is stifled.   But I want you to get excited because once you burn the box, you can move, you can spread your wings, you can fly.  The possibilities are endless because there is no longer any evidence except ashes that the box ever existed.

You may be saying, \"that\'s sounds good but it is easier said than done.\"  I beg to differ.  The Incredible You will flourish when you change your mindset and the way that you look at the issues and obstacles plaguing your life.  It has been said that the only difference between a stumbling block and a stepping stone is how it is used.  Inside of the box, it is surely a stumbling block preventing you from achieving anything that would give your heart delight.  A burnt box is a stepping stone which you will use to catapult you to supernatural success.

For all intents and purposes, the box is whatever issue, problem, challenge, person and/or obstacle that is holding you back from defining and becoming the Incredible you.

To aid in the development of individuals and groups, I have indicated my five steps to burning the box below:

1. Inspect the Incredible: Complete a self- assessment and evaluate your associations.  What is your life like now?  What do you want it to be like? Remember, if you have 9 broke friends, you are # 10!  The self-assessment if done with honesty and integrity should lead you to defining the challenges that you are currently facing.  Once your assessment has been completed with a list that identifies what you like about your life and what you want to change...as yourself this all important question.  Is there anything that would keep me from burning the box?

2. Speak the Incredible: Create an affirmation or power statement that speaks to who you are, what you want out of life and what about you will make it happen.  Your power statement should also include your plans for life once the ashes have been scattered. If you want to live, you must learn to speak life over your life.  It is absolutely essential to the Incredible You.

3. See the Incredible: Make a vision board...what does your life look like?  Who does it include?  You must be able to begin with the end in mind if you want to burn the box.  What will change when there is no longer a box?  What will you work toward for yourself, your family, your life?  Your  vision board must be all inclusive all what you want.  Remember, what we think and speak about we bring about.  Speak the Incredible and follow it up with a visual representation on your board.

4. Do the Incredible: Make a non-negotiable decision that the box has got to go.  You cannot and will not renege on your decision.  When you permit yourself to let it go and get rid of any evidence that it once existed, everything will change. Finish the Incredible by buying some matches and go ahead light it up.  If it makes you feel better, go ahead sing the “good-bye” song as it burns!  Let it Burn!

5. Dream the Incredible: now that the box is no longer a hindrance, the sky is the limit and you can have anything you want in your life.  Decide now to dream so big that only God can make it happen and watch your life’s plan, dreams, and goals replace the ashes that are still smoldering as you remember how you burn your box!
